Why Sexual Healing is Good for You!

This month I am going to talk about the health benefits of Sex. I know it’s a very controversial topic. And some of you might get offended by it. But, I believe that it is good for anyone both emotionally and physically. So before you make any judgment, let’s relax and take a look at the lyrics of “Sexual Healing” by Marvin Gaye, one of the greatest soul singers of all time. He knew exactly how beneficial sex was for his health.

Here we go (Warning – it might make you blush):

Ooh baby, I’m hot just like an oven
I need some lovin’
And baby, I can’t hold it much longer
It’s getting stronger and stronger

And when I get that feeling
I want sexual healing
Sexual healing, oh baby
Makes me feel so fine

Helps to relieve my mind
Sexual healing baby, is good for me
Sexual healing is something that’s good for me

Whenever blue teardrops are fallin’
And my emotional stability is leaving me
There is something I can do
I can get on the telephone and call you up baby

And honey I know you’ll be there to relieve me
The love you give to me will free me
If you don’t know the thing you’re dealing
Ho I can tell you, darling, that it’s sexual healing

Get up, get up, get up, get up
Let’s make love tonight
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
‘Cos you do it right

Baby, I got sick this mornin’
A sea was stormin’ inside of me
Baby, I think I’m capsizing
‘The waves are risin’ and risin’

And when I get that feeling
I want sexual healing
Sexual healing is good for me
Makes me feel so fine, it’s such a rush
Helps to relieve the mind, and it’s good for us
Sexual healing, baby, it’s good for me
Sexual healing is something that’s good for me
Well, it’s good for me and it’s so good to me my baby, oh

Ok now, are you starting to feel “THAT FEELING”? I don’t care if you are young or old. It doesn’t matter if you are married or single. You need to feel “THAT FEELING”! If you’ve lost “THAT FEELING,” you’ve got to get it back no matter what. It is a pure concentration of positive energy that can do so much good for you.

Marvin Gaye seems very convinced that “making love” is good for him, but is it always beneficial for all of us? If you are a woman, you can probably tell right away about the other woman if she had great sex last night or not by the way she radiates, or the glow on her skin, and the way she smiles. And if a man has been in the relationship with a woman long enough, he can also notice the significant improvement in woman’s mood immediately after making love – provided that he was able to satisfy her needs. She is all of a sudden different person. She will be very nice and sweet to you for as long as “Post-Love Making-Effects” lasts. Nothing ticks her off, even when you make silly comments about her. Peace and harmony is restored instantly. When “THAT FEELING” is enhanced and intensified, the positive impact it has on women is undeniable.

But on the other hand, not having “THAT FEELING” has serious negative impact on women. As an herbalist, Juli also has noticed that many of the married women’s illnesses are caused, sustained, and worsened by marital problems: stress, emotional torment, lack of love, and most importantly devoid of pleasurable sex. So, it seems there is a clear connection between women’s health and good sex.

But what about men? Is it really as good as what Marvin Geye says in his song? Answer is both yes and no. When it comes to making love, it is a little tricky for men. I will explain the reason why later, but for now let’s look at the excerpt from the book “The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity” by Daniel P. Reid. It explains in great detail the mechanism of how both men and women benefit from sex.

“According to the Taoist view, the ravages of aging are caused by the progressive depletion of hormone production and the dissipation of vital energy. Since the essence is the ‘root’ of the Taoist Trinity, with energy as the ‘stem’ and spirit as the ‘blossom’, the entire plant may be nourished simply by cultivating the roots, which consist of blood, bile, enzymes, hormones and other forms of ‘essence’. Of all these elements of essence, hormones exert by far the most profound and powerful physiological influences, even in the most minute quantities, and, of all Taoist regimens, disciplined sexual intercourse provide the most direct stimulation to vital hormone production and endocrine balance.

While sexual excitement remains one of the most effective means of stimulating vital hormone production in both men and women, women have the additional mechanism of menstruation and pregnancy to promote production of sexual hormones, even in the absence of sexual intercourse. Men, on the other hand, have no such alternative mechanism, and for them sexual intercourse remains the best way to stimulate hormone production. As a person gets older, it stands to reason that sexual intercourse grows ever more important as a form of preventive therapy against disease and aging. When enhanced secretion from the male ‘kidney-glands’ are preserved through properly disciplined intercourse without ejaculation, they enter the blood stream, travel throughout the body, and prevent hair loss, skin wrinkling, poor muscle tone, arthritis, rheumatism, impotence and other disasters associated with aging. For Taoists, the issue of sexual intercourse in old age is not a moral or social one – It’s a matter of life and health.”

So there it is: the reason why it is good for your health. “THAT FEELING” intensified through sexual intercourse stimulates the production of vital hormones and energy, which is directly responsible for your health. He also emphasized the importance of preserving the essence through disciplined intercourse. A man has to control the desire to ejaculate in order to benefit the most from sexual intercourse. Otherwise, he will loose pure essence (semen) that is the concentration of potent biochemically active substances, hormones, enzymes, proteins, vitamins and other elements. This is why men become so exhausted and useless after ejaculation. Women also secrete similar essence when they reach orgasm. But unlike men, it is all retained inside the body, thus no loss of energy. It will probably help if you think of yourself as a battery.

For both men and women, stimulating vital hormones through sexual intercourse is like recharging your battery at high speed. However, ejaculation for men is like draining the battery. It will weaken men’s health. I would go even further to say that it will shorten a man’s life if he doesn’t limit the loss of his vital essence.

It is very difficult to explain all the aspects of “Sexual Healing” in the limited space we have in this letter. I am sure it needs further explanation on this matter, but I hope I was able to help you at least open your mind to consider the positive impacts it may have on your health. For those who are interested in studying how sex and the stimulation of vital hormones positively affect your health, please read, “The Tao of Health, Sex, and Longevity: A Modern Practical Guide to the Ancient Way (Fireside Books (Fireside))

Changes in 2012: Emotions

2012 has been a very emotional year of changes. I focused on my emotions, and I believe I shocked my husband by not throwing a fit to every comment he made. My goal was to be happy, to do the best I can. Having good patience has helped. It has made me better, and I truly believe it made a difference.

It feels great to feel good, so try not to argue and to expect less in return.

We should all scream a little louder, add in a little fun to life and best of all to feel good. You only have one body, take great care of it and look at your tongue. Remember people lie, but the tongue doesn’t. If it is coated, take the herbs.

This is for you and me…
I believe that a great healer is the one that can prevent an illness.
I believe my patients are the strong ones because they will drink the bitter herbs.
I believe we will build good habits and eliminate the bad.
I believe in the care of our health and that we can prevent pain.
I believe in me and you.

In 2013 we will set stronger goals, and make every effort count!

What Are You Giving Yourself?

When you think of the holiday season do you look forward to it or hope it is over quickly? Celebrating is a wonderful tradition for any culture, but it can become tiresome and strenuous. It doesn’t need to be.
When I first became a parent, I felt guilty for taking a shower or wanting to just sit and read by myself. Birthdays and holidays became times I wanted to make extra special for my family, but I learned very quickly that we didn’t have as much fun if I stressed myself with details and perfection. So, this year, I’m going to give myself the gift of enough sleep. That’s the one thing I usually skip in an effort to do it all. No more midnight gift-wrapping for me!

When you’re making your plans for the holidays, do you put taking care of yourself at the top of the list? Why not give yourself the gift of good care first? This is something people recommend to new parents or those on an airplane, “Put your oxygen mask on first.” We cannot help anyone if we’re passed out from lack of oxygen.

During any hectic time in life it’s important to take care of yourself so you don’t burn out, get sick easily, or become stressed. Even during festive times of the year, we need to remember this.

How can you put your name at the top of the list? What gifts can you give yourself?

5 Gifts You can Give Yourself:
1. Stick to your bed time
2. Take a hot bath after a busy day
3. Sit and relax with a cup of tea quietly
4. Keep going to the gym (no need to sacrifice your fitness goals)
5. Sleep in one morning

No matter what helps you feel recharged and rested, give yourself the gift of doing just that during the end of this holiday season. We at Hen Sen Herbs all wish you a wonderful end of the year!
